The tech trees in WoTB have been changed many times, with the most well known and controversial change happening in Update 5.5, which saw the removal of many tanks from the trees (most still available to players who researched them prior to the update, while others were removed entirely). Higher tier tanks generally get slower and more heavily armored, while lower tier tanks are lighter. A tank line is a research line within a tech tree that usually consists of the same or similar kind of tank, with the next tank in a line being an improvement over the previous. By playing tanks, experience and credits are earned, which are used to research and purchase the next tier tank on the tech tree, until Tier X, which is the maximum tier.
